El Festival Heritales 2020, IV Edición.

In 2020, numerous world heritage realities could be known worldwide, thanks to the Heritales project’s online platform. It was even more interesting because it was the time of the Covid-19 pandemic. It offered free online the possibility of watching this international festival based in Alentejo, Portugal from home. Between July 20 and September 30, 2020, forty-one films related to tangible and intangible cultural heritage or its loss, short, medium, long or cartoons, were freely available at https://stage.heritales.org Besides that platform, Heritales project shows many films in Portugal, in historical places of as nineteenth Century Association Harmony Society of Évora (SHE), where they made an evening session in holding with African Festival of Cinema FCAT.

In this way, authors from Iran, Siberia, Ukraine, Turkey, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, England, United States, Italy, Austria or Portugal, are among the 41 selected in the international film festival on heritage Heritales 2020. Interdisciplinary artists revealed cultural secrets, talking about normally forgotten worlds. Ethnologists, filmmakers, directors and anthropologists show remote parts of distant cultures, presenting an in-depth knowledge of various heritages of a tangible and intangible nature. They offer with visual anthropology a crude portrait of reality. They reveal the adult’s dream by transmitting truths never told before with animation. They speak of unexpected diasporas. They seek the conservation of ancestral sustainable traditions. They rescue the indigenous cultures of resistance through the utopian documentary that dreams of maintaining them. It was an honour to project their films at Heritales Film Festival and have many of them at the Ceremony Award at the National Museum of Ethnology of Portugal in September 2020.
